Tips For A Great Camping Trip

Camping Trip Essentials - What To Bring On Your Camping Trip
Packing for a camping trip can be challenging. First there’s the clothes - will it be hot in the day and cold at night? What about swimwear? Raingear? Then there’s the food - how do you bring enough for 3 days and not have to eat the same thing over and over? Then the supplies for sleeping, eating and everything else. Sometimes it seems like you need a trailer just to carry all your camping gear!

Yet, packing properly for camping is essential because once you get to the campsite it can be really a pain to find out that you left something at home!

Here are some camping trip essentials that you should have on your packing list:

Tent

Ok, laugh if you will but can you imagine how inconvenient it would be if you forgot to bring your tent camping! Well, maybe you wouldn’t forget to bring the tent, but what about the poles, stakes and a tarp to set up over it. If you don’t have them all packed away in the same bag then you might want to list them out separately on your “to pack” list.

Sleeping Gear

Yep, you don’t want to forget your sleeping bag and, of course, your pillows. Also, If you have an air mattress or cot to sleep on then you want to pack those. There’s nothing worse then settling down for the night only to find out your forgot your air mattress and you have to sleep with a big rock poking into your side.

Food

This is a whole list in itself, but you need the basic food you will eat PLUS all the condiments. Bread, milk, hamburg, ketchup, cereal, potatoes, eggs bottled water and so on…. Not only that, but you need the pots and pans you will cook the stuff in, the utensils and plates to eat it on and perhaps even a cook stove. If you will be cooking on an open fire your best bet is to get a cast iron skillet and reserve it only for camping because it will get pretty dirty looking after being over the open fire.

First Aid

Accidents do happen and you don’t want to be stuck out in the wood unprepared so you’ll need a first aid kit that has the essentials. Bandages, antiseptic and aspirin (in case of aches, pains or migraines) are key. You might want to bring something like an ace bandage that you could wrap around to make a splint if need be. Also, include some bug spray, scissors or a Swiss army knife and sun screen. Along with a first aid kit, it is smart to have some knowledge of first aid.

These are the basic essentials you might want to bring, of course there are people who bring much more. I even saw someone with a TV at their campsite once!
